WO, MAN! IT'S NOT EQUAL: AN EXAMINATION OF GENDER INEQUALITY IN ATHLETICS

Abstract

There is a clear inequality between male and female sports not just in the professional world but in all realms of sports. The solution to this inequality is not at all one dimensional. The creation of Title IX addressed part of the issue and was an important stepping stone for great female athletes. This even paved the way for several female athletes to compete in male sports. It has also taken decades for the US Women's national soccer team to achieve equal pay. How long will it take in the WNBA? How will high school girls feel supported and seen in sport? These are questions we must answer by getting to the root of this inequality and cracking down on the injustices.
